The useless Guterres gets what he deserves: banned from Israel

The direct comparison between Israel and theIran marks an escalation not only in the military, but also diplomatic and political fields. Main object of the conflict: the UN, with its useless interposition force in Lebanon (locked up in bunkers, and for years it has not completed its mission) and above all with its questionable Secretary General, who never fails to make himself notable for his anti-Tel Aviv stance.

The straw that broke the camel’s back fell today. So much so that the Israeli government made a gesture of strong symbolic and political impact by declaring Antonio Guterres “persona non grata” on their territory. This act, unprecedented in the history of relations between Israel and the UN, highlights a serious fracture in the relationship between the Jewish State and the international organization.

The decision, announced by the Foreign Minister Israel Katzemerges as a response to Guterres’ failure to explicitly condemn an Iranian attack on Israel. Katz expressed his dissent unequivocally: “Whoever does not clearly condemn Iran’s barbaric attack against Israel has no right to tread on Israeli soil. This is a secretary general who supports terrorists, violators and murderers,” he stated forcefully.

Israel’s dissatisfaction also manifested itself following the generic condemnation of escalation of violence in the Middle East expressed by Guterres, after the Iranian missile aggression. Israel’s criticism of the Secretary General has focused on the perception of insufficient attribution of responsibility to Iran for the launch of 181 ballistic missileswhich threatened the safety of 10 million Israeli civilians. Guterres limited himself to condemning, in a generic manner, “the expansion of the conflict in the Middle East, with one escalation after another. This has to stop. We absolutely need a ceasefire.”

The Israeli Foreign Ministry promptly responded via social media platform X, criticizing Guterres’ failure to clearly identify Iran as responsible for the attack. Further tensions were highlighted by the words of the Israeli Ambassador to the UN, Danny Danon, who expressed disappointment with Guterres’ reaction to the Iranian attack. “We are disappointed by the comment of Secretary General Antonio Guterres, who, in the immediate response to Iran’s unprecedented attack, did not name the aggressor but spoke only of de-escalation,” Danon noted, underlining the distance in the perception of events between Israel and the United Nations. In recent days, Netanyahu had gone to the Glass Palace to accuse the UN of being a den of anti-Semites.
