On the "Ius Scholae" Pier Silvio is right

Dear Director Feltri,
A few days ago she criticized the proposal to introduce the “Ius Scholae” by the exponents of Forza Italia. Today we learn that Pier Silvio Berlusconi intervened to the tense leg to bring the party back to the original line. Does it mean that he listened to it?

Lorenzo winterizzi

Dear Lorenzo,
It has finally been declared in clear letters by those who really have a weight in Forza Italia: the theme of citizenship does not constitute a priority, it is not for the Italians, it is not for the country and it is not for the party. Fortunately, Pier Silvio is there. Let it paraphrase with affection, recalling the slogan that has become famous thanks to his father, Silvio Berlusconi, founder not only of a media empire but also of an idea of modern and productive Italy. Pier Silvio not only inherited the name of the father, but also his lucidity, the practical sense, the vision capacity and, I would add, a form of sobriety that today makes the difference in a media and political panorama dominated by cacophonies and infantilisms. His intervention on the Ius Scholae that he himself defined, with balance, “a theme that does not affect citizens” was an act of common sense and firmness, a lesson to those who, in their own party, occasionally stumbles in the desire to please the left rather than to serve the country. Ius Scholae is an ideological gimmick, an attempt to transform a training course into a bureaucratic automatism. But citizenship is not a loyalty prize, which is obtained by collecting the points of the supermarket. It is a right, yes, but that is conquered. And it cannot be granted to slogan strokes or to emulate Macron. Italy already has a system that works and does not need identity amendments, especially if given up by those who, like Antonio Tajani, sometimes seem more worried about pleasure in the Radical-Chic living room than to represent the moderates. And let me say, there is a basic misunderstanding: being moderate does not mean imitating Elly Schlein, antithesis of moderation. Pier Silvio did well to report order. And it is no coincidence that since he fully assumed the reins of Mediaset, the company has not only returned to grow, but has also refined its editorial profile. In 2023 the group exceeded 3 billion euros in revenues, with a net profit of 217 million. And in the first quarter 2024 he continued his race, improving margins and listening, even in a flexion advertising market. In this the Son overcome the Father.

All this without betraying the public, indeed, focusing on popular, but never vulgar content, and on a clear, free, autonomous editorial line. Other than the self -referential salons of the public service.

Pier Silvio is a great entrepreneur, and has shown it not by riding the emotional wave of the disappearance of Santa, but by govern with lucidity and with the numbers, in a context that is anything but easy, I repeat, the information is in crisis. Many would like him in politics. I strongly advise against him. Because politics, we know it well, is a mined soil, in which those who really be worth often attacked, denigrated, sometimes even persecuted and pursued. And the Berlusconi family learned it on its own skin.

It happened to his father, targeted twenty years after an unparalleled judicial obsession. Pier Silvio continues to be an entrepreneur and, every now and then, as in this case, he followed to remind politicians what common sense is.

Forza Italia was born to represent the moderates, entrepreneurs, families, not to chase the left on identity battles that do not passionate anyone, if not the members of the Burraco di Capalbio club. Better to follow the route traced by the founder, Silvio, and today kept, with intelligence and discretion, by his son.
