IT experts, but also those who are a little familiar with the accounts and the various profiles that can be created on social media, have always preached using password that are as “safe” as possible to prevent the hackers could steal them and thus access restricted areas with serious consequences. Many, however, evidently do not pay enough attention to this advice since the password most violated in the world by computer hackers is made up of the first six numbers: “1 2 3 4 5 6“.
The search results
Preply, an online portal for language learning, shed light on a widespread problem everywhere, focusing on an ever-current topic. But what are the most violated passwords in our country? To the first place there is the one just indicated above, which obtains the gold medal in the world with over 37 million total violations to date (a number destined to increase): the time needed to violate it is also alarming, less than a second. In second place in Italy are the first nine numbers in sequence from 1 to 9 with almost 17 million violations, third place for the writing “qwerty“, the first letters of PC keyboards if you read from left to right in the first line.
Between the fourth and sixth place of the most violated passwords in Italy, new numerical combinations appear: first “12345678”, immediately after “1234567890” and then “12345”. In seventh place is the first given name, “Andrew” (with a lowercase a) which has already suffered over 350 thousand violations. Eighth place for the word “admin“, in ninth position is the name of the team most supported by Italians, “juventus“, and in tenth place another first name, “Francis“.
How to defend yourself from hackers
To avoid unpleasant inconveniences, many companies already force users to use at least one capital character, a number and a special character in their passwords: in this way it will certainly be more difficult for hackers to find out what the access key is to enter the profile. IT experts, in fact, recommend long passwords that are not just numeric like the examples given above: the more varied they are and interspersed with letters and punctuation, the better.
Another valuable tip is to change them often: if it is changed every month or two it will be more difficult for hackers to enter our accounts. Last advice, but not as important, is not to use the same password for all accounts and profiles. Imagine what could happen if a hacker discovered it, goodbye to privacy and big risks of theft of data, credit cards, sensitive documents, etc.
