Schrödinger’s cat is at the Elysée
Emmanuel Carrère wrote about Emmanuel Macron: “When one thing thinks, he reminds himself that the opposite could also be thought.” During his first election campaign, the future French president often used the inclusive phrase “en même temps”, which Carrère himself called “linguistic tic raised to the philosophical position rank”: France, et en même temps Europe. Right and at the same time left. Schrödinger cat alive, but in the end also dead.
For several millennia, the peoples staggered between the decision to eat an egg today, or wait for the hen tomorrow. Those who had a full wife knew that the barrel in the cellar was not drunk. The dreamy manufacturer of the Elysée bet on his ability to preserve the cake intact, despite having already eaten it (have the cake and eat it too).
Macron’s political career was dotted with magical thoughts. In June 2024, he decided to go to early elections in order to stem the extreme right that he had moved to the European Championships. But when a left heterogeneous coalition won the new elections, the quantum cat of the Elysée, nominally alive but politically dead, made a pact with the droite in order not to send the government the gauche.
In his speech of the other evening (here), the words of the fool president remembered the paraphrase of a famous scene of the film Everyone at home by Luigi Comencini (here): ‘Compatriots, an incredible thing happens! The Americans have allied themselves with the Russians’. In the film, the second lieutenant Innocenzi, aka Alberto Sordi, had misunderstood, while Macron’s interpretation is substantially correct. For the rest, the president who lost the Françafrique To leave room for the troops of Vladimir Putin, now he would like “en même temps” to be a ass in Putin in a hypothetical Françeurope.
