Scripta. Market exhibition of fine books, graphics and printing reaches its twenty-ninth edition in the Sala Pietro da Cemmo and in the Cloisters of the Sant’Agostino Cultural Center in Crema. The event maintains its tradition but is renewed by placing graphics and printing alongside the prestigious market exhibition of fine books as areas of study between past and present, of investigation between cultural tradition and new forms of art. From 1984 to today Scripta it is an opportunity to learn some of the best antiquarian bookstores, bibliographic studies and publishers, ranging from ancient to the twentieth century, to discover the wonders of typographic art and beyond. In the splendid setting of the fifteenth-century former Convent of Sant’Agostino, with the unique atmosphere of its Cloisters and the Hall frescoed by Giovan Pietro da Cemmo at the beginning of the sixteenth century, there will be a selection of rare, ancient and second-hand books, a proposal of fine publishing and exhibitions dedicated to graphics.

The 2024 exhibitors offer a variety of proposals always in the name of quality and research. The antiquarian bookshop The Tessa Wall of Milan, member of ALAI, the Association of Antiquarian Booksellers of Italy, has been at the service of scholars and bibliophiles for twenty years in the search for books of good culture, specializing in editions of Italian literature, ancient and modern, in texts of history and traditions local, esoteric and bibliophilia.

Biblion Rare Editions is a bibliographic studio in Milan specialized in twentieth century editions, history, politics and culture, it is also a publishing house founded in 2004 between Venice and Milan. The MiLO Bibliographic Study of Milan, born in 2015, offers an eclectic choice of used, rare and out-of-print books, paying particular attention to art and photography, architecture and design, graphic works, illustrated books and paper curiosities. The bibliographic study acephaloraribooks will be present with a selection of ancient, twentieth-century and out-of-print books. For the first time he will participate Book Menders by Giulio Garlaschi proposing bibliographic rarities, a selection of papers and ex libris.

The selections of Umberto Fabiani, Maurizio Pasina, Antiquities and Restoration Of Ferdinando Torazzi And Antonio Bordo with twentieth century editions, magazines, periodicals and used books.

In the field of illustration and fine publishing Editions the harmless boy Of Luciano Ragozzinoborn in 2004 in the heart of Milan in a former ice cream factory that has become a small printing house and a meeting point for poets and artists, offers limited editions composed and printed by hand with movable type, accompanied by unpublished texts and original graphics. Exhibitor who participate in Scripta for the first time it is Fabio Mainardi who will guide us to discover the booklets printed with presses in different artisan techniques.

Partner as always of Scripta, will not be missing ‘Andrea Schiavi’ Museum of Printing and Art Printing of Lodi which will also be the protagonist of one of the collateral events with the exhibition Rodolfo Campi. Typography is a kingdomdedicated to the great Milanese printer.

From his laboratory, surrounded by olive trees, near Florence, Simona Galbiati will bring artistic binding, relief engraving, illustration to Crema.

A very young reality, Tintamuda studio of Pontenure, will present its creations as a graphics studio specialized in art printing on paper and fabrics by the metre.

Also present Animula Design, creative factory that bases its research on traditional materials and contemporary design and which, with the Stamperia ANIMULAb.

With Syria Bertorelli, the Atelier Ticonzero of Cremona, which promotes the realization of artistic and cultural projects conceived in the field of neurodiversity, with the aim of creating new possibilities of interpretation and development of human well-being, will present the Ticonzero monographsart monographs that collect the visual production of the artists who attend the Ticonzero Art Therapy Atelier, created through collaboration with the editorial project Fools to be bound from the Venturini bookbinding. TO Scripta the three monographs already created will be presented – Castle of love Of Anna Casali, Chromatic narratives Of Carlotta Porcari And The giraffe in the eye Of Giuseppe Isabella Valenzi.

Matti da Rilegare will also present the project Thought saversnotebooks made with paper saved from waste, in which scraps of “precious” paper are not thrown away, but preserved and bound at a later time in an artisanal way, giving life to notebooks limited edition or unique pieces.

To accompany the market exhibition, some events on the themes of bibliophilia, illustration, literature and poetry: on the day of Saturday 19 October the exhibition will be inaugurated at 5.30 pm in the art gallery of the Civic Museum of Crema and Cremasco Vampires. Literature and illustration between blood cult and return from death, edited by Edoardo Fontana, Lidia Gallanti and Silvia Scaravaggi. Sunday 20 Octoberin the Agello rooms, the exhibition will be presented at 11 am Rodolfo Campi. Typography is a kingdom edited by Luigi Lanfossi, vice president of the Museum of Printing and Art Printing in Lodi “Andrea Schiavi” and Edoardo Fontana. The twenty-ninth edition of Scripta is produced and organized by the Department of Culture, in collaboration with the “Andrea Schiavi” Museum of Printing and Art Printing in Lodi.
