In Swiss you will soon be able to hibernate your body after death. The nation already known for offering the possibility of resorting to assisted suicide is ready to take another step forward and propose something that, until now, anyone would have considered science fiction. It all started with a start-up that aims to preserve the bodies of the deceased through a process of “cryogenics“. We are talking about society Tomorrow Biastasis which, as can be read on the dedicated website, he desires“build a world where people can choose how long to live, regardless of where they are, who they are and their financial resources.”
The company, founded by Dr Emil Kendziorra, is based in the small village of Rafz, Switzerland. There, in the underground part of the European Biostasis Foundation facility, the bodies will be stored at minus 196 degrees. At the moment, four bodies are found in Dr. Kendziorra's laboratory, some individuals are men, others women. The team's hope Tomorrow Biostasis is to expand the company, reaching a larger headquarters in Zurich as well. The preservation of bodies by cryogenics is already a reality in China and the United States, where the corpses of some deceased are already preserved in liquid nitrogen at less than 196 degrees. There Tomorrow Biastasis it would be the first company to offer the service in Europe.
But how does the project work? The procedure can only be applied once the customer is deceased. At that point the body is entrusted to specialized personnel, who goes to the home of the person requesting the service to begin the hibernation program inside a prepared ambulance. “We immediately begin to cool the car. At the same time, we perform chest compressions and administer oxygen through a breathing mask. Not to resuscitate the deceased, but to slow down the incipient cell death and finally stop it completely with cooling”Dr. Kendziorra explained to Bild. “They remain exactly as they died. We cool them down and bring them to Switzerland as quickly as possible.”
Currently Tomorrow Biastasis he is taking care of four bodies, preserved in tall steel containers filled with liquid nitrogen. The founder of the company does not want to deceive anyone times. To be able to cure an illness or revive a human organism, we may have to wait another 100, 300, 500 years, but it will happen.
Choosing to resort to cryogenics is not cheap.
The cost of using the service offered by Tomorrow Biostasis and of 200 thousand euros. The amount must be paid at the time of death. Up to now, 400 people have been interested and signed up for the experiment. Everyone was asked to pay a fee of 25 euros per month.
