A strong and clear message, a threat that cannot go unnoticed. Russian President Vladimir Putin said that any presence of western troops in Ukraine would be considered a military target by Russia. The Tsar added that, in the event of a peace agreement, the presence of foreign forces on the Ukrainian territory would no longer be necessary: ”If you reach decisions that led to peace, to long -term peace, then I simply do not see the reason for their presence on the Ukrainian territory. Because if you reach agreements, no one doubts that Russia would respect them fully”.
In support of this position, the spokesman for the Kremlin Dmitri Peskov said that Moscow does not intend to allow NATO to deploy its troops in Ukraine, defining this eventuality a direct threat to the security of Russia. “NATO attempt to find an access route to Ukraine represents a threat to our country,” he said, remarking immediately after: “It is a threat to us, because NATO considers Russia an enemy, as it is clarified in its documents. We cannot allow this to happen. And we will do everything you need to guarantee our security”.
Peskov also criticized the role of Europe in the conflict, accusing European countries of hindering a solution: “Europeans hinder the resolution in Ukraine. They are not contributing at all”. According to the Kremlin, Europe would be trying to transform Ukraine into “the center of everything that is anti-Russian”. Peskov then rejected the idea that security guarantees offered by the United States and European Union can represent real protection for Kiev: “Foreigners, in particular European and American military contingents, can guarantee the safety of Ukraine? Absolutely not, they cannot”. And he added: “This cannot be a guarantee of security for Ukraine suitable for our country”.
In short, in a nutshell: no troops born in Kiev. Otherwise the escalation is around the corner. A highly discounted underlining, but in fact not everyone seems to have understood that they are playing with fire. The reference is at the usual Emmanuel Macron, in acclaim crisis and constant search for the spotlight. In recent years he has tried them all, but he was unable to become the leader of Europe. And precisely for this reason he tried to steal the scene with bombastic declarations, such as those relating to the sending of French troops to support Ukrainian ones. The head of the Elysée is in pressing for an involvement, so as to be able to take a victory. But the risk is big and Putin reiterated it today: the West would enter the war. And this nobody wants it. So Macron avoids making the phenomenon, or rather the cockerel, and is silent, without looking for the clash with the Kremlin.
Staying on the western front, Donald Trump showed availability to dialogue, stating: “I will talk to Putin, we have a good dialogue”, in response to a question about the possible contact with the Russian leader, after the phone call with the Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky. Just Zelensky, who intervened on video at the Economic Forum of Cernobbio, reiterated the importance of immediately activating the security guarantees promised by the countries of the so -called coalition of the willing: “It is important that the security guarantees immediately start, without waiting for the end of the fights”. He also thanked the 26 countries that expressed their will to support Ukraine, defining the initiative “an important step forward” and specifying that the guarantees are also of an economic nature. Finally, China’s position came, which rejected the requests to exert pressure on Russia. After Trump’s statements, which invited the European countries to act in this sense, the spokesman for the Chinese Foreign Ministry Guo Jiakun said: “We firmly oppose the practice of constantly drag China into the issue (of the Ukrainian war) and firmly oppose the imposition of the so -called economic pressure on China”.
