Dnata, an Emirati operator active in airport services and the travel sector (acronym for Dubai National Air Transport Association, over 5 billion euros in global revenues and 108 million euros in 2024 in Italy alone), has launched a stabilization plan which provides for the permanent hiring of 300 collaborators employed in ground activities. The operation, already underway, equally affects the Rome Fiumicino airports and the Milanese ones of Malpensa and Linate, with 150 positions consolidated in each geographical area. The intervention aims to strengthen the operational staff in three of the most important hubs of the group’s Italian network.
Strengthening the workforce
The decision to transform 300 contracts into permanent positions is the result of a series of agreements signed with trade unions. The company’s declared objective, we read in a note, is to increase employment stability, facilitating the development of technical skills and operational resilience. Currently, the company employs around 5 thousand people in Italy, managing over 150 thousand flights every year and providing ground assistance services to more than 60 airlines, for a total of 46 million passengers.
Investments in Fiumicino and Malpensa
In Rome Fiumicino, where Dnata obtained a seven-year ground handling license in February 2025, the company now has over 2,500 employees. Since the start of activities at the Rome airport, 80 thousand flights have been managed and over 700 ramp vehicles introduced. At the same time, the group is strengthening its presence in Milan’s airports. A new logistics hub dedicated to the cargo sector is under construction at Malpensa, the value of which amounts to 25 million euros.
Future prospects and new hires
And the new Malpensa cargo warehouse, which is scheduled to come into operation at the end of 2027, will have a handling capacity of more than 100 thousand tons per year. According to estimates released by the company, the operation of the new infrastructure will require the creation of approximately 200 new jobs. In addition to the employment aspect, the development plan includes internal welfare programs designed to improve the balance between the professional and private lives of workers.
