VIDEO: Trade unionist Greta, Mamdani's fans and Elly's tax: here is the podium of the worst

In third place podium of the worst this week we find a very special trio. Basic union, Francesca Albanese e Greta Thumberg: all together passionately in the streets against the economic maneuver. Once upon a time the union demonstrated for workers’ rights. Now he makes a unique mix between finance, rearmament and war and relies on two icons of the pro-Pal protest. With them Frure the Flotilla and the dock workers. The more you have, the more you have! Even two dates: in Genoa on November 28th and in Rome on November 29th. Get ready because we will see several strikes between now and the end of the year. Maurizio Landini has already announced another one: December 12th (obviously a Friday but there’s no need to tell you). Once again, the purposes and objectives of these mobilizations escape us, except that they want to foment the streets against the government. And it is also unclear why a Swedish activist should protest against another country’s financial institution.

On the second step there is the local left which crowns Zohran Mamdani as the new foreign pope. Or rather: as a new foreign imam. Mamdani is, in fact, the first socialist (which in the United States means communist) mayor of New York. But he is also, and above all, the first Muslim mayor. He won with an ultra-progressive program and our “heroes” of the wide field celebrate: “When the working class wins, everywhere we become stronger” (Ilaria Salis); “The anti-Trump par excellence, the hope for a democratic America” (Sandro Ruotolo); “The second and third generations of immigrants will be the antidote that will reduce the crazy nationalists to what they are, that is, old” (Gad Lerner). Faced with such unmotivated triumphalism, it is necessary to make a couple of notes. The first: Mamdani won, yes, but he took home fewer votes than Kamala Harris who had received at least 20% more in New York last year. The second: the “winning working class” narrative doesn’t hold up. Mamdani is indeed an immigrant, but not like those who enter Italy illegally. The father? University teacher. The mother? Famous director. The truth? Yet another radical chic that wants to dismantle the West.

For the Democratic Party, the new mayor of New York is a “model” to export. So much so Elly Schlein he already dreams of the Mamdani tax: “We are in favor of taxation on people who have millions at their disposal, on billionaires.” Always the same dear old patrimony. Here theorized in a big way. Not being able to put it to the Italians, the dem secretary wants one at a European level. And for this reason it gets first place on the podium of this week’s worst. It makes me smile that on the left they are starting to talk about assets again just as the government is working, now with various finance companies, to reduce the tax burden. How the criticisms of the IRPEF cut make you smile. The Dems, but not only, accuse the executive of only benefiting the rich by increasing “inequalities and ignoring the real country”. Also in this case a couple of notes are in order.

Meanwhile, the cut foreseen by the budget under discussion comes after three years of measures to support lower incomes. Secondly, defining those with an income between 28 and 50 thousand euros as rich means distorting reality. And the reality is that the measure will lighten the tax burden on the middle class.
