The withdrawal of Joe Biden from the race for the White House has paved the way for Kamala Harris. A few minutes after the announcement, the American president made a further post on X launching the current vice president as the new challenger of Donald Trump: “Dear Democratic colleagues, I have decided not to accept the nomination and to focus all my energies on my duties as president for the remainder of my term. My very first decision as the party’s nominee in 2020 was to choose Kamala Harris as my running mate. And it was the best decision I ever made. Today, I want to offer my full support and my support for Kamala be our party’s nominee this year. Democrats: It’s time to unite and beat Trump. Let’s do it.”
Endorsement that Harris also received from Clinton family: “We are honored to join the President in endorsing Vice President Harris and will do whatever it takes to support her.” The ball is now in the Democrats’ court, who continue to dream of Michelle Obama’s run.
Donald Trump’s reaction was not long in coming, with harsh words immediately directed at his now former challenger: “Dishonest Joe Biden Was Ineligible to Run for Presidentand he is certainly not fit to serve the Nation – he never was! He rose to the position of President only through lies, fake news and without leaving his basement. Everyone around him, including his doctor and the media, knew he was not fit to be President, and he was not.”
Then the attack on the probable new Democratic candidate: “Kamala Harris will be easier to defeat than Biden would have been”.
