Poverty in Italy is no longer a marginal phenomenon: 2.2 million families today live in absolute poverty and almost 1 in 10 people cannot afford essential expenses. In Milan, faced with increasingly complex needs, Casa Jannacci represents an innovative welfare model, based on collaboration between the public and the third sector. As Anna Nikisyna, cultural mediator of the social cooperative Medihospes, explains, the structure welcomes homeless people, single-parent families, asylum seekers and unaccompanied foreign minors, building personalized paths that combine home, work, language, training and socio-health support. In 2024 alone, 431 single people, 210 families and over 470 foreign minors in the integration phase were supported. Thanks to Medihospes and the entities involved in its management, Casa Jannacci is today a multifunctional hub where educational projects, spaces for children, creative workshops, widespread housing and independent living initiatives are born. A place that does not simply assist, but accompanies towards dignity and independence, transforming fragility into real possibilities.
