This morning the Grand Canal of Venice was colored green again, as had already happened two years ago due to a demonstration action by Extinction Rebellion. Two years ago, during the action which involved four other cities in addition to Venice, the activists made it known that they had used fluorescein, a harmless dye. There are actually more than one precedent. Swedish activist Greta Thunberg took part in the Extinction Rebellion initiative on the Rialto Bridge in Venice, where fluorescein was poured into the Grand Canal to dye it green. The initiative of the environmentalist group concerned ten Italian cities. In Venice several people were identified, while musical instruments and the banner that had been displayed were seized. No risks were reported for navigation, which continued regularly with monitoring in place. Firefighters and law enforcement intervened on site. (NPK) Source: us
