Viviani team manager and Amadio new coach – Antonio Ruzzo's blog
“I greet on behalf of the entire movement Elia Viviani, who joins the Technical Structure in a role that will allow him to make his great experience available to the national teams and we have assigned Roberto Amadio the role of coach of the elite road, in order to allow Marco Villa, as expected, to concentrate on time trial and women’s track, two sectors in which Italy invests a lot of hope with an Olympic perspective. I am sure that this new structure will allow every single coach to work with greater profit within a group which, as indicated at the beginning of my first mandate, moves and thinks like a single team”. The president of the Italian Cycling Federation, Cordiano Dagnoni, thus announces the new roles of Italian cycling which will see, among other things, Edoardo Savoldi at the helm of the junior road sector both in line and time trial, Marco Velo confirmed as women’s technical commissioner, Marino Amadori as head of the Under 23 activity.

ANDLia Viviani will be team manager of all the national teams, Roberto Amadio coach of the road and Marco Villa leading the time trials and the women’s track, with an Olympic twist. For Viviani, fresh from a new world title and farewell to two wheels, it is a new adventure with a blue twist. “I am happy with the trust placed in me by the Federal Council and I hope to be up to the task assigned – comments the 36 year old champion from Veneto – The Federation has been my home as an athlete for many years, this role will be a challenge for me but above all an opportunity to grow and learn as a manager”.

The new coach of the Azzurri Roberto Amadio, 62 years old Portogruaro, already in the FCI staff since 2021 as team manager of the national teams and a technician with great experience with teams like Liquigas: “It is a great honor for me to lead the national team – he explains – Let’s start again from the excellent placings of this season and from several young people who are maturing. I thank CF for their trust”. Handover with Marco Villa: “I accepted the role of elite road coach knowing that it would be for a year – he specifies – The time necessary to reorganize the sector with a broader perspective than a single season. On several occasions I recalled how time trial and track were important commitments that deserve the right commitment. The 2028 Olympics are not that far away and it is right to focus all our attention on these two strategic sectors.”
