what is behind the IDF plan to attack Lebanon

The news currently circulating on the websites of the main Israeli and international news agencies reveals that IDF generals stationed in the north of the Jewish State they approved Lebanon's offensive battle plans. This news, which bounces from internal sources to the army spokesperson, only confirms that the Northern Israel General Staff has decided to accelerate the readiness of the forces on the ground. This while fighter jets struck Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon.

The same structures from where hundreds of bombs of all types were launched into Israeli territory in recent days, causing injuries and extensive damage. The head of the IDF Northern Command, Major General Ori Gordinand the head of the Directorate of Operations, Major General Oded Basiukfollowing the recent intensification of cross-border fighting with Hezbollah, as already mentioned, approved the battle plans for Lebanon and transmitted them to the supreme command in Tel Aviv.

In other words, senior commanders made decisions regarding accelerating the readiness of forces on the ground. The announcement came amid repeated attacks by Hezbollah and of the Palestinian terrorist groups allied in Lebanon towards northern Israel and, above all, with the publication by the Shiite militia of a video taken from above the port of Haifa shot by a drone that managed to return to Lebanon.

The IDF also stated that fighter planes hit several Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon, including infrastructure in Taybeh, Odaisseh and Jebbayn, and a building in Ayta ash-Shab that served as a lookout point. That tension is rising further can be understood from two facts that seem separate but which, upon careful analysis, reveal dangerous signals. The first concerns a statement by Foreign Minister Israel Katz: “We are very close to the moment when we will decide to change the rules of the game against Hezbollah and Lebanon in an all-out war, Hezbollah will be destroyed and Lebanon will be hit hard.”

Iran which never dreamed of blocking or delaying military supplies to the two terrorist organizations. The Biden administrationis no longer a secret, instead of helping the only ally the US has left in the Middle East, is seeking deals with Iran, something that not even Obama and half of Europe put together managed. Just open your eyes and see the use that Tehran has made of the nuclear agreements.

Although on the one hand the news of the approval of the plans for Lebanon it raises the bar of tensionunless there are serious events that could completely upset the balance, it is legitimate, at least for the moment, to hope that the situation remains within the limits of a possible negotiation.
