Confirming what recently emerged according to some rumors, the developers of WhatsApp have launched an important innovation regarding the improvement of group voice chats, that is, the calling function that allows the user to start a conversation and the participants to join and talk in a “silent” way, that is, without a ring that could disturb but simply with a push notification.
In reality, this functionality has already been available to users of the famous Meta instant messaging app for some time, but to be able to access it it is necessary to open the information screen on the group chat or select the action from the application bar at the top to insert a voice conversation.
Thanks to the latest update identified by WaBetaInfo experts, distributed through version 2.24.25.22 of WhatsApp beta for Android, it was possible to find the introduction of a new button of action that acts as a shortcut. The button, located just above the send button for voice messages, clearly improves the visibility of the function and simplifies access, ensuring that all members of the group are aware of it. Apparently, a limited number of beta testers are experimenting with the possibility of starting a voice chat simply by scrolling up the conversation within a group: once the scrolling is completed, the function is activated, expanding the possibilities of accessing the option .
However, this is not the only news: WhatsApp is in fact extending the availability of voice chats to multiple types of groups. Although initially intended for groups of more than 32 users, the function will also be accessible to smaller groups, even if there are only two participants. Users of the instant messaging app will be able to benefit from the convenience of “silent” voice chats regardless of the size of the group, although there are still some limitations for larger groups.
Users will have the option to notify all group members once a voice chat is started, which everyone can join if they wish.
However, if no one accesses the conversation I will enter 60 minutesthis will end automatically, ensuring that it does not remain active unnecessarily.
This is a new feature currently available to beta testers, but, unlike others, it will be gradually distributed to everyone starting from the installation of the most recent stable version of the app.
