The developers of WhatsApp have released two separate updates that anticipate important new features coming to all Android users: version 2.24.24.12 has been made available through the Google Play beta testing program, which introduces customizable and themed icons to distinguish contacts and group chat, and 2.24.24.14, in which it is possible to appreciate a clear renewal regarding the Community tab. While the first is still in a development phase, the second is currently already in the possession of those who have joined the beta program and will be released to an ever-increasing number of users in the coming weeks until reaching the entire community.
Customizable icons
As mentioned, with version 2.24.24.12 the Meta development team clearly demonstrates that it continues to work on renewing the graphic appearance of its instant messaging app, focusing on the introduction of a customization of icons capable not only of livening up the interface but above all of allowing the user to immediately identify contacts and group chats.
The old gray icons, which remain gray unless a profile photo is added, will be replaced by colored alternatives: by selecting the desired shade you can also “brand” yourself from the point of view chromatic a specific element, simplifying its identification. Finding contacts without photos is not a quick and easy operation, so this new feature will be able to help in this regard: it will be like having a sort of placeholder, and this will also happen for group chats and WhatsApp communities .
The graphic renewal adds to the revisiting of the themes, to which the developers are giving the finishing touches, with the replacement of the traditional green by black in the light mode and the introduction of predominant white in the dark one.
Community Tab
With version 2.24.24.14, which unlike the first is already available to some users, the WhatsApp developers have revisited the Community tab interface. The graphic choice is decidedly essential and “clean”, as well as more compact, given that each section takes up less space than in the past.
Not only that, each of them is equipped with a specific one key which, if clicked, allows you to view each group chat connected to the community. In the new interface there is also a floating button, through which you can create a new community more quickly and intuitively.
The last trick is given by the repositioning of the button for managing group chats: if until now it took up too much space, with the new arrival it will find a place on the same line as the name of the community, making the interface more essential and intuitive .
