For now it is only available for some beta testers but very soon it will be available to the general public: WhatsApp is about to introduce the possibility of inserting the link to your profile Facebook directly within the instant messaging app.
What it’s about
With the latest update, Androdi users can choose whether to add their Facebook profile links to the WhatsApp information page. “Once added, the link appears directly on profilemaking it easier for other users to access and recognize it. Users can choose whether check the link via the Account Center, which confirms the membership of the account”, the experts explain WaBetaInfo. “It’s important to note that verification is optional, so users can even view an unverified link without any negative impact on their WhatsApp experience.”.
Check the link
For everyone’s safety and not to affect privacy, a small one is shown icon of Facebook next to the profile: this means that the account is actually connected to the person who has the account on Whatsapp, confirming the connection between the two profiles. Of course, however, there is no 100% guarantee that the Facebook account is authentic and not a fake or duplicate. “The icon instead indicates that the person behind the WhatsApp profile can be associated with the owner of that Facebook profile, giving contacts greater security to interact with the same users on the Meta platforms”. Conversely, a link that is not verified displays a generic icon and full URL similar to unverified Instagram links. Unverified links still provide the ability to be shared but without offering explicit confirmation of account ownership provided by verification.
How it is activated
Adding a link from your Facebook profile to WhatsApp is absolutely optional: to add this option you will need to be inside the app, access from Settingschoose Privacy and then click on Links and the process is concluded. WhatsApp gives you the possibility to share the link with everyone but also choose to make it visible only to your contacts, to specific people or to keep it completely private.
“This level of control ensures that users decide exactly how to view the
your Facebook connection within WhatsApp. With these privacy options, WhatsApp reinforces its commitment to giving users full control over their connected social profiles“, conclude the experts.
