A padlock for protected chats: the new feature of WhatsApp

Lots of new things coming, but also a return to the past for Whatsapp. The instant messaging platform most used by the population has in fact decided to reintroduce an old function that had been put away for a while. In the latest version of WhatsApp Beta, 2.24.7.3, “swipe” has made its appearance, a tool widely used by users in the past and requested loudly.

A long-awaited return

Last year the farewell was announced swipe, i.e. the ability to scroll between WhatsApp tabs. In the preview of the most recent version of the app, however, the beta testers were pleased to find the old functionality, which guaranteed the possibility of scrolling between the various tabs present on WhatsApp, namely Chats, Updates, Community and Calls. An old function, therefore, which has long been missed by users, who had found in it a method to speed up their experience on the platform.

As explained on the online portal TuttoAndroid.netthe swipe appeared in the version 2.24.7.3, recently released. The ability to swipe sideways will therefore return, moving between the various tabs. For those who already have the new interface, this function is not yet available, even if the return of the function was already present in the beta version 2.23.19.10 in September. In the latest version available, however, swiping seems to be in use by practically all beta testers and this suggests that very soon all other users will be able to use it too.

The new user interface

In the meantime, the WhatsApp team is busy updating the new user interface, modified after many months of testing. The functions have not been modified, the intervention of restyling it is mainly aesthetic. The links have been moved to the bottom and the sections have been reorganized as Chats, Updates, Community and Calls.

Meta is constantly looking for improvements to apply to the platform to make it more usable and appealing to users, especially in anticipation of the interoperability between platforms provided for by Digital Markets Act issued by the European Union. An antitrust measure that will allow users to exchange messages and images with users also present on other applications.
