Whatsapp, the long-awaited function arrives: how to filter conversations

As it prepares to open up to chats from other applications, as required by the Digital Markets Act issued by the European Union, Whatsapp it also continues to think about new improvements to make to its platform, so as to make the service increasingly pleasant for users. According to what they report from WABetaInfoIn fact, Meta is about to launch a further feature with the next update. Something that had already been talked about previously and that users of the messaging platform have been waiting for for a while, because once again it will make the service quicker and easier. So we’re back to talking about chats.

The new filter

According to what was reported by the team at WABetaInfoin the beta version 2.24.6.16 of WhatsApp, in this case for Android, there would be an old function that allows you to filter conversations. This is a long-awaited return because this feature, although simple, was highly anticipated by those who use the instant messaging platform. As you can see, a new line has been added below the WhatsApp icon which includes filters. Essentially, users will be able to give an order to conversations, thus managing to display only those of greatest interest to which the filters are applied. You can, for example, choose to view only unread chats, or only those belonging to a specific group.

This, as you can well imagine, will allow you to speed up our experience on the platform, limiting the confusion of the data present. You will be able to go more quickly to the chat that interests you, without wasting time on long searches. This is not, among other things, the first function of this type. Again to speed up the search, Meta had already thought of a filter, in this case by date, to allow users to trace back to a specific conversation depending on the period of time in which it took place: thanks to a calendar, users can in fact limit the search field.

Approach to chats

Apparently the Meta development team had already carried out tests of this kind, applying filters which allowed only business and personal chats to be shown. According to the latest rumors reported by WABetaInfoHowever, it appears that filters will instead be applied to indicate group or unread conversations. It is not certain that the platform’s technicians will not decide to add further labels in the future.
