Europe sits down in favor of Kiev
On the weekend preceding the summit, European leaders have strengthened support for Ukraine. The Italian premier Giorgia Meloni, together with other European heads of state, has signed a joint declaration that asks not to change the Ukrainian borders by the strength and to guarantee Kiev’s safety and sovereignty. German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said: “We hope and presume that the Ukrainian government, that President Zelensky, participate in this meeting”. He adds that it is unacceptable that “territorial issues were discussed or even decided by Russia and America ignoring Europeans, ignoring Ukrainians”.

JD Vance, American vice -president, in his interviews, said that at the moment “it would not be very productive that Zelensky and Putin see before the summit with Trump”. Vance has reiterated that the American government no longer intends to directly finance the Ukrainian defense, leaving this responsibility for the European Championships: “If Europeans want to buy weapons to then give Ukraine, for us it is fine. But we will not financially financially”.
New tensions between Russia and Europe
A few days after the summit, Russia accused the European countries of wanting to sabotage American attempts to find a peace agreement.
