Another insult to the Christian community of Jerusalem. Al Jazeera released the video which portrays a man, identified as an Israeli settler, spitting in front of the Cathedral of St. James and then offending the symbol of the cross by making some rude gestures. It is only the latest of the vile gestures aimed at the Christian community living in Israel or Lebanon. On April 28, a French nun was pushed and then kicked in front of the Cenacle, on Mount Sion. And just a few weeks ago a statue depicting Jesus was destroyed with a hammer by an Israeli soldier stationed in Lebanon.
The video
In the video released on the web, a man wearing a baseball cap is seen walking his dog and walking next to another person. At a certain point the man approaches one of the doors of the Armenian church built in the 12th century and spits on the ground. He seems aware of being filmed by one of the cameras surrounding the temple and in fact immediately observes the electronic eye. Then, with a gesture of defiance, he spits over and over again at the cathedral.
I’m not paying, he gives the camera the middle finger. Finally, with the two middle fingers he forms a cross to offend the famous Christian symbol. Eventually he walks away, as if nothing had happened.
