You are always close, one step away. The signing of the agreement between the USA and Iran would only be a matter of hours. The preliminary agreement could, however, be postponed further after Israel carried out several raids in Beirut and southern Lebanon.
Israel’s attacks
“It was Hezbollah, Iran’s allied group, that attacked Israel again this morning, without any provocation,” writes the Israeli Foreign Ministry on “Hezbollah constantly fires at Israeli civilians. Even after the ceasefire, Hezbollah did not stop targeting Israelis. It was Hezbollah that launched an unprovoked attack on Israel in March, acting on orders from its Iranian proxies,” the ministry emphasizes, “Israel will not tolerate shots being fired on its territory.”
The toll from the attacks in Beirut would be at least 3 dead and 15 injured. But the Israeli offensive also hit some southern areas of Lebanon. Cells of the Party of God still operate here and it was in this area that Ali Musa Daqduq, a senior commander of the Hezbollah organization, was killed on 12 June.
Trump’s fury
After several hours, Trump’s reply arrived. “This morning’s attack in Beirut should not have happened, especially on such a special day when we are so close to a peace agreement with Iran,” writes the tycoon on Truth social. “Israel has the right to defend itself against threats, but the attack to which it was responding was very small and insignificant: no one was injured or killed, and this should not compromise this important process,” continues the president.
The signing of the agreement is a matter of a few hours: “We are very close to an agreement that will bring peace to the region, including Lebanon, and all parties should take a step back.” Trump hopes there will be “no more attacks by Israel anywhere in Lebanon, but there should also be no more attacks by any other group, including Hezbollah, against Israel.” Then he concludes: “This could be the beginning of a long and wonderful peace: let’s not ruin it!”.
A journalist from Axios he reported that, during a phone call with the president, the latter told him that he was “very angry” with the Israeli prime minister, and accused him of “having no judgement”. Talking to Fox newsthe tycoon confirmed that the agreement will be signed in the next few hours “electronically and after a week in person in Europe”. The bombings would have only delayed everything for a few hours.
Iran: “A strong response is coming”
In an interview with the correspondent of Fox News Trey Yingst, Trump said he would ask Tehran not to respond to Israeli attacks against Hezbollah in Beirut. In the same minutes, Ebrahim Azizi, chairman of the National Security Committee of the Iranian Parliament, wrote on

The statements reported by the agency are of a similar tone Irnaby General Ali Abdollahi, commander of the Iranian armed forces. The soldier reportedly declared that the country’s armed forces have “their finger on the trigger” and are ready to strike “the heart of the enemy”. Winds of war also raised by the Supreme National Security Council which spoke of an “imminent” attack against Tel Aviv. “Lebanon is our life and violation of the red lines of the Islamic Republic will not be tolerated,” is the conclusion of the message.
The situation, as is evident, is constantly updated. The Iranian threats published via social media could only be propaganda from one wing, the most extremist, which does not accept an agreement. Or even the last attempt to postpone the agreement further.
