Milan fair accelerates the “journey” into the future of the industrial sector and launches NetZero Milan, the expo-summit dedicated to decarbonisation to be held from 14 to 16 May 2025 at Allianz MiCo, Europe's largest conference centre, bringing together C-level, corporate decision makers and international stakeholders to discuss and promote innovative solutions for a zero-emission economy. Economic policy vision because the sector needs growth, innovation and investments, taking into account that 50% of companies in the world are developing a roadmap and have set decarbonisation objectives, but we are far from the 2050 targets.

“NetZero Milan is the first new event which confirms the positive start of the execution of Strategic Plan 2024-2027 of Fiera Milano and with this appointment we aim to support the industrial world and the sectors that are particularly difficult to decarbonise, helping them to identify the strategies, tools and technologies that can allow them to face the process of decarbonization in double strategic horizon 2030 and 2050“, explains Francesco ConciCEO and general manager of Fiera Milano.

“The international context is giving a significant impetus to the process of change and the energy transition of companies and most likely in the coming years Italy and Europe will become strategic Working for develop a leadership role in the sector of generation and distribution of alternative energyand – continues Conci -. Thanks to the topics addressed by NetZero Milan, we want to reiterate how important it is for us sustainability integrated into business which is at the center of the strategic vision of Fiera Milano and define it in company's business model it is a qualifying criterion, a competitive advantage on the international scene”.

According to the International Energy Agency, by 2030 over 70% of new generation capabilities power it will have to come from renewables to maintain the goal of net zero emissions by 2050 but today the probability of meeting the Paris Agreement and limiting global warming to 1.5°C is only 14%. According to a recent analysis by Roland Berger, around 50% of companies globally are developing a roadmap and have set decarbonisation objectives, but acceleration is needed because the level of ambition is still low: only 10-15 % of large companies aim to reduce emissions by 50% by 2030, while the sum of the current objectives would lead to a maximum reduction of 20%.

L'Europe has now initiated a profound structural change in its economic system with a clear objective: to take on the technological leadership in the fight against climate change. This is a significant economic challenge that will mobilize at community level investments of over 4,500 billion euros to achieve the objectives of the 'Fit 55' package by 2030. For Italy it means mobilizing resources exceeding 900 billion by 2030 as estimated in the National Integrated Energy and Climate Plan. We therefore need a breakthrough to put the world on track towards a more sustainable future, directing industries towards reducing emissions, both direct and indirect, deriving from purchased energy or from the supply chain.

For support businesses in this challengein particular those active in the most critical sectors (the hard-to-abate), such as steel, concrete, paper, NetZero Milan presents itself as a transversal platform which will involve all technologies able to contribute to the goal of decarbonisation: from utility-scale and industrial solar to hydroelectric and wind, from batteries to green hydrogen, from emerging energy technologies to new fuels, up to solutions for the removal and compensation of CO2 emissions .
Not only that, it will also focus on electrification, digitalisation and decarbonisation solutions designed for industries with the greatest environmental impact and will also address green policy and financing issues. The project in fact it is built on four pillars: technology, policy business and finance. In fact, it is essential that every company has the skills and tools to undertake a tailor-made path of change, balancing actions in a strategic and financial way to combine efficiency, safety and competitiveness.

NetZero Milan, also through collaboration with knowledge partners recognized in the energy and industrial sector such as, for example, the think tank Here you are and the consultancy firm Roland Bergerintends to contribute to increasing dialogue and discussion in relation to the issues ofinnovation.

Sharing vision and knowledge will also be at the heart of the approach events which will take place in the coming months and will offer a first opportunity to networking in view of the May 2025 appointment.
