A recent event has brought the issue of historical accuracy and memory back into the spotlight Joe Biden, president of United Statesonce again raising debates and concerns.
During a campaign rally in Las Vegas, Biden made a statement that immediately attracted the attention of both the public and the media. In fact, she declared that she had “met Mitterrand in 2021″a clearly incorrect statement given that François Mitterrand, former French president, passed away more than thirty years ago, making such a meeting impossible. Not only that, Biden also mistakenly attributed the presidency of Germany to Mitterrand, a central figure in French politics, when in reality he meant to refer to a meeting with the current French president, Emmanuel Macron.
This gaffe is not an isolated episode in the chronicle of Biden’s mistakes. Already in 2022, he had told a similar anecdote, making the same mistake, raising doubts about his ability to accurately remember significant details relating to international contexts and prominent political figures.
🟩 Biden said he recently spoke with the dead man: François Mitterrand. 🤣🤣🤣
“I sat down and said, ‘America is back.’ And Mitterrand from Germany, I mean from France, looked at me and asked, “Well, how long ago has she been back?”
