The award ceremony for the “Energie per Roma – Salute” Award was held yesterday at Spazio Europa, headquarters of the Italian Office of the European Parliament, an initiative promoted by the European Center for Cultural Studies and sponsored by the Order of Doctors-Surgeons and Dentists of the Province of Rome. Among the protagonists of this edition dedicated to health, Prof. Paolo Maria Rossini stands out, Director of the Department of Neuroscience and Neurorehabilitation of the IRCCS San Raffaele in Rome, awarded the prestigious award “in recognition of the extraordinary dedication, vision and leadership ability demonstrated in the field of healthcare and public health, thanks to which he has been able to combine passion, professionalism and competence, contributing significantly to the improvement of services and the well-being of the Roman community and enhancing the scientific and healthcare image of the main structures Italian university and hospital institutions including, in recent years, the San Raffaele Hospital and Care Institute in Rome, both at a national and international level”.
An internationally renowned neurologist, among the most influential scientists in the world according to the ranking drawn up by Stanford University, Prof. Rossini has always stood out for his fundamental contribution in the study, early diagnosis and treatment of neurodegenerative diseases, with particular attention to Alzheimer’s disease and for his studies in the field of neurophysiological techniques applied to the functions of the human central nervous system.
Among the most important projects that have seen him involved as coordinator for years are certainly “Interceptor”, promoted and financed by the Ministry of Health and the Italian Medicines Agency (AIFA), thanks to which a predictive model has been developed capable of identifying with high accuracy people with mild cognitive decline (MCI) who are more likely to develop dementia and the European project “AI-MIND” which is proposed as a decision-making support tool for the early identification of subjects at risk of developing neurodegenerative diseases, through the application of artificial intelligence to innovative neurophysiological, neuropsychological and genetic investigation tools.
“I dedicate this award to my patients, to my family, to my collaborators and to my research and assistance institute” commented the neurologist on the sidelines of the ceremony, “these are the ingredients that in my ‘first’ 50 years of professional activity have always pushed me on the path of care as a service to those who suffer and on that of curiosity in seeking innovative solutions for the diagnosis, therapy and rehabilitation of the main neurological diseases”.
The “Energie per Roma – Salute” Award celebrates the protagonists who, with commitment and vision, contribute to the physical and mental well-being of the community. The initiative, with a high institutional profile, brings together representatives of the political, scientific and social world to enhance the excellence of the Capital in the field of health, innovation and solidarity.
The ceremony, divided into three categories, Health and Prevention, Healthcare Innovation and Social Commitment and Volunteering, offered a moment of shared reflection on central themes such as access to services, research and care for vulnerable people.
In this context, the recognition of Prof. Rossini represents a tribute to the value of human capital and the strength of scientific research as a driver of progress and social inclusion.
