Bucket and rag? No thank you! The data says it: the smart cleaning sector has grown exponentially in recent years and 73% of Italians think that smart devices will soon become the norm in every home.
Although products of all kinds and for every need are arriving on the market, robots and floor cleaning brooms still reign supreme. Increasingly technological solutions allow you to have a clean home with less effort and respect for the environment, using less water and fewer detergents than traditional methods. So, what better occasion than Black Friday to keep up with the times or think in advance about what to put under the Christmas tree?
There is no shortage of offers and among the promotions we also find products that we have already tested in recent months. Like Roborock devicesa market leading company that stands out above all for its investment in technological innovation in a sector that is still rapidly expanding. And in particular the floor cleaning robots with a charging base that cleans itself, right non plus ultra of smart cleaning.
The top of the range: Roborock Saros 10R
Double rotating mops, artificial intelligence combined with the StarSight Autonomous System 2.0 navigation system. that combines technology
3D ToF with dual light and an RGB camera that allows obstacle detection and precise room mapping, voice commands and above all minimal maintenance. The Saros 10R it does everything by itself: all we have to do is put clean water, the detergent in the appropriate space and start one of the suggested programs or create one.
We tested it for a long time, putting it to the test with difficult dirt such as residues from a risotto dinner, milk spilled during breakfast or flour that flew to the floor while preparing biscuits. The main brush DuoDivide with anti-tangle system and the lateral FlexiArm Riser collected everything without problems thanks to a 19,000 Pa suction, while the rotating mops (one of which comes out laterally to reach even the most difficult corners) collected the liquid residue and washed at the same time with clean water. No problems either carpets: the scratch-resistant rubber wheels and the AdaptiLift frame allow it to easily overcome thresholds of up to 5 centimetres. What about long-haired ones? The Saros 10R automatically recognizes them and lifts or deposits the mops in the base and adjusts the suction. The lack of the LIDAR turret (replaced by equally efficient sensors and technologies) makes it very thin: less than 10 centimeters can pass well even under low furniture.
The design of the base is elegant and essential. Despite the large size, the black color adapts to different furnishing styles and allows it to be placed in plain sight in a living room. But the plus, as we said, is the maintenance. When cleaning is finished (or when battery or dirty conditions require it), the robot returns to the charging base, empties the dry residue into the dust bag and starts washing and drying the mops with hot water. This way the device will always be ready to clean. From time to time it will only be necessary to empty and wash the dirty water tank.
The Saros 10R is available until December 1st on offer at 899.99 eurosa good 600 euros less than usual.
The economical robot with the best quality-price ratio: Roborock QV35A
By giving up some non-essential functions, such as voice commands, the detergent dispenser and automatic dirt detection, without losing efficiency, you can focus on a cheaper model but which has nothing to envy of the Saros 10R. We’re talking about QV35Aprobably one of the models with the best quality-price ratio.
Also in this case it is a device “all-in-one“, which not only vacuums and washes the floors, but also cleans itself. In this case navigation is guaranteed by Lds laser and LIDAR turret (the same technology developed for self-driving cars so to speak). The brush is single, but the anti-tangle system seemed equally efficient. Just as we had no problems with suction: with its 8,000 Pa, not even the QV35A ever left residues in our tests, even if when washing it is less precise in the corners and edges since it lacks the arm that extends one of the mops. The LIDAR turret ensures great accuracy, but makes it a little taller.
Available in white or black, it has a perhaps less refined base, but no less solid and above all with the same main functions: it not only recharges the robot when necessary, but automatically empties the dust and wash and dry mops. The specific detergent must be added manually into the clean water tank.
The price is more advantageous: the QV35A Set version (which also has two additional dust bags in the package) is on promotion at 349.99 euros250 less than the recommended retail price.
An app for cleaning customization
Both robots find one of their strengths inapp for iOS and Android with easy and quick use. The QRcode configuration makes the first approach to these devices simple. The interface, also in Italian, guides you step by step in the initial mapping and setting of the programs. You can choose the suction power, how wet the mops should be and even the dryness level based on the environment in which the base is installed.
Furthermore, you can choose the areas where the robot should not pass, the sequence of rooms and whether to wash the mops between one room and another (for example to avoid contamination between the bathroom and kitchen) and so on. Once the app is set up, starting cleaning is as simple as a tap.
