The intake of CBD does not alter the view and does not compromise the guide

Cannabidiolo, or CBD, one of the main active ingredients contained in cannabis which, however, unlike the best known THC, does not have noteworthy psychoactive effects. It is used in the therapy of disorders ranging from anxiety to epilepsy, and its popularity is growing, with a global market that should rise by more than 16 percent per year by 2030.

Despite being considered a safe and well tolerated substance, which does not compromise attention and does not cause dependence, it has calming effects that could represent a contraindication when leding each other. The scientific data on this aspect are still lacking, but a new Spanish study offers a reassuring indication, concluding that the inhalation of CBD has no negative effects on visual function or driving skills.

The research was built in Granada, and involved 30 volunteers: 19 usual cannabis consumers and products based on CBD only, seven used to consumption of cannabis only THC containing, and four who habitually assumed only products containing CBDs. The participants participated in three experimental sessions in which their leading capacity and their visual skills were tested, randomly receiving a dose of 16 milligrams CBD, a 30, or a placebo.

The results of the experiment, published in the Addiction magazine, did not highlight any statistically relevant difference in driving skills after taking CBD and placebo, in none of the conditions tested (guide on the highway, in the city, on mountain roads) . On the contrary: after inhaling the solution with higher CBD levels (30 mg) on average, participants showed driving at slightly less speed. The discussion is similar even in the case of sight: no significant difference in the visual function has emerged following the hiring of CBD.

The Spanish results confirm those already emerged from a small number of studies carried out in recent years. For this reason, the authors of the research believe that “the vaporized CBD would seem to be a safe substance for the execution of tasks related to visual function, such as the guide – adding, however, that – more research will be needed to check if higher doses can prove to be risky “.
