Objectively, embarrassing. And maybe even i Democrats they finally realized it. For months the media have been reporting the countless gaffes of Joe Biden every time he appears in public: disoriented, with difficulty walking, awkward. And it’s not just a matter of slips from Air Force One or mistaking boos for boos. The problem is that the American President is the Commander in Chief of the most powerful army in the world. And the King of an empire cannot afford to be, or even appear, wavering.

Tonight’s debate was an eye-opener for Democrats. Who perhaps understood that an electoral campaign conducted by Joe Biden it would lead them to crash and leave the path clear for Donald Trump. In itself the TV comparison was nothing special (boredom won, our Alessandro Bonelli wrote here). And perhaps, as Mauro della Porta Raffo explained to us, the alarms in the dem house could also be exaggerated. Yet now the big stars and stripes newspapers, including editorialists close to Sleepy Joe, seem to be asking for a step back. He will do it? And who will the Democrats nominate in his place: Kamal Harris or the dream Michelle Obama?

Certainly there is what we saw. More than we’ve heard. A gibbering, disoriented Joe Biden, full of uncertainties about what to say and how to say it. Without forgetting the image of Jill Biden who has to go on stage to accompany him away at the end of the debate. Donald Trump obviously he took advantage of it, even if he may not have struck the right blow (that “I didn’t understand what he said, but neither did he”) will remain iconic. The vote is still far away and there is time to take full advantage of the President’s slip-up, at least as long as he is technically the Democratic presidential candidate. In fact, the Tycoon’s team immediately went to edit the worst clips of Biden’s performance, summarizing in 90 seconds all the worst of the most powerful leader in the world. It’s embarrassing. Maybe even worrying, if you consider that the man in the video is the same one who makes decisions on conflicts in Ukraine, Israel and around the world.
