thus the news of Sinwar's death circulated

The news had been circulating on social media for a few hours and it seemed surreal if not impossible: one of the three terrorists killed during a recent attack on Tal Al Sultana Rafah it could have been Yahya Sinwar, the leader of the terrorist organization Hamas.

The Saudi television channel “Al-Hadth” had also referred to the possibility that Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar had been eliminated by the IDF in the Gaza Strip during a direct clash with Israeli forces and not in an air attack.

In an official note the Israeli army initially made it known that there were no hostages present in the area in which the three terrorists were killed even though Sinwar was known to be hiding using the Israeli hostages as human shields.

The IDF released this statement after rumors relating to the incident began to spread on social media.

Channel 12 reported that troops opened fire on a group of terrorists on the ground floor of a building. When they entered, they realized that one of the dead terrorists looked a lot like Sinwar.

The three bodies were collected and immediately subjected to DNA testing. Which then tested positive: Sinwar died.
