Path of Exile 2 has already managed to conquer hundreds of thousands of players. Despite still being in Early Access, the game has surpassed one million viewers on Twitch and has peaked at more than that 459 thousand users connected simultaneously on Steam. Among these, also the owner of Tesla, Elon Musk.
The South African billionaire has never hidden his passion for action rpgso much so that he revealed himself to be at the beginning of 2024 19th in the world rankings of Diablo 4. A sign of notable skill which, however, in the case of Grinding Gear Games’ production cost him dearly. Musk, in fact, has been banned from Path of Exile 2 For “too many actions performed too quickly.” The SpaceX founder shared a screenshot on his social platform to testify to what happened, commenting that “I wasn’t using any macros, I was just too fast for the game.”
As was to be expected, the reactions on the web to this story have been very mixed. Some users said they agreed with Musk, pointing out how Path of Exile 2 gives players lots of active abilities, then penalizes them for using them quickly. Others, however, were surprised by the fact that the richest man on the planetwith several companies to run and a job in the next US administration, has time to gamble so much that he gets kicked out for too much action per minute.
In any case, it is likely that this “incident” that has gone viral will push the developers of Grinding Gear to review the parameters of their system anti-cheatingof which Musk himself highlighted the “aggressive limit of clicks per second”. In fact, it cannot be ruled out that other avid gamers have been banned from Path of Exile 2 not because they cheated, but because of their skill.
Despite this and other small hiccups, the production of Grinding Gear seems well on its way to becoming one milestone of the kind.
Announced for the first time in 2019 as a sequel to the first chapter released six years earlier, PoE 2 it has been praised both for its deep and well-researched mechanics, as well as for the audio sector and narrative. The game is still missing half of the campaign and the classes that will be available at the launch of version 1.0, but it seems that it has already become a real must for action RPG fans.
