Tractors and trucks in revolt, Germany seethes against the green

Hot weather in Germany, the headaches for the government led by Olaf Scholz are multiplying. In recent days farmers and truck drivers they literally have paralyzed the country against the latest interventions in the economic field, between indiscriminate cuts and the exasperated green line. In particular, workers lashed out the abolition of relief on agricultural diesel. Truck drivers, shippers and artisans joined the mobilization against the executive’s policy called by farmers, but the bad news is not over: the social protest – the largest since the post-war period – promises to last.

Green fundamentalism is exasperating people in Germany and tensions are very high. Scholz’s government is accused of spending too much money on go green, removing incentives and discounts from “those who really work”. A common battle that brings together different sectors, carried out primarily by farmers, who also took to the streets last Tuesday to vindicate their demands: 680 vehicles including tractors, heavy vehicles and vans of small artisans scattered between the Brandenburg Gate and the column of Victory, in the center of Tiergarten.

Woe to you if you talk about useless complaints, because i numbers they speak clearly. According to estimates by the Farmers’ Association, with the abolition of the legislation on agricultural diesel and the exemption from the tax on vehicles for agricultural and forestry use, the sector would be burdened by an additional billion euros per year. An equally heavy impact for truck drivers, shippers and artisans. At the center of the criticism, Scholz he took his time without going overboard on possible steps backwards. “If the protests that are legitimate turn into fury and contempt for democratic processes and institutions, then we all lose,” the chancellor trailed off, invoking who knows what danger: “Only those who despise our democracy will benefit. Especially in these difficult and turbulent times it is important to maintain a sense of proportion and balance, this should be a concern for all Democrats.” Germany is seething.
