Whatsapp it has now become a very common application, so much so that it is used not only in the private sector, but also in the workplace. Precisely for this reason the platform has been in the sights of scammers and cyber-criminals for some time now, intent on stealing our data and our money. To prevent all this, the WhatsApp technical team is making numerous changes aimed at protecting the accounts of many users.
Many improvements have been made in recent months, with maximum security options, aimed at guaranteeing the privacy and to prevent the numerous scam attempts reported on the messaging platform. In particular, the developers of Meta, the company that controls WhatsApp, are focusing on chats, where most of the scams against users are carried out.
The users themselves, however, can take precautions to protect themselves from possible attacks, both by cyber-criminals and disturbers. There would be three tips, in particular, that everyone should implement to defend themselves. Sometimes WhatsApp users aren't even aware of it.
The first thing to do to ensure a little extra protection is to keep the security notifications. Often these notifications are not active when we download the application, so we have to look for them in the menu and unblock them. The procedure is simple. Once logged into the application, just click on the three dots at the top. At that point we access “Settings” and from there we get to the account menu, where we need to look for the “Security notifications” item. You should therefore check “Show security notifications on this device”. What is all this for? To be notified if the app rules are violated.
Another procedure to do is to intervene on contacts that we do not know. Still on the “Settings menu”, just click on “Privacy” and activate the “Call” functionSilence unknown numbers“. In this way we will be better protected from harassing phone calls from numbers we don't know and which often only spread spam.
Finally, the third function to activate concerns the actual protection of our WhatsApp account. The advice of those in the sector, in fact, is to activate the verification code. To do this, simply log into our account, click on “Verify” and then enter a six-digit security code, as well as an address and email.
This way only the account owner will be able to log in.access and no criminal will be able to “steal” it. Be careful, though. The six-digit code should never be shared for any reason. It is precisely that series of numbers that criminals try to obtain when they carry out their scams.
