The aerospace company had said it aimed to place 48 satellites into low Earth orbit on behalf of Amazon, in a bid to expand the e-commerce giant’s broadband capabilities. The explosion represents the latest setback for the company. Its New Glenn rocket had failed on its mission to place a communications satellite in the correct orbit, leading to the launch of an investigation.

“It’s too early to know the cause of the accident, but we are already working to identify it. A really difficult day, but we will rebuild everything that is necessary and we will fly again. It’s worth it,” Bezos wrote on X.
Elon Musk, founder of SpaceX, Blue Origin’s rival company, expressed his regret, calling the incident “very unfortunate”.
