At least three people died and several were injured following a serious accident that occurred on the night between Saturday and Sunday in Oakland, California, where a vehicle hit pedestrians and other cars near a city intersection. The dynamics of the accident

According to what was reported by the Oakland firefighters and reported by local media, the accident occurred around 11.15pm on Saturday local time (8.15am on Sunday in Italy), near the intersection of International Boulevard and 85th Avenue, an area of ​​the city located in the eastern part of the urban area.

For reasons yet to be clarified, the vehicle would have hit both some pedestrians and other cars along the road. The impact was particularly violent and caused the death of three people on the spot or shortly after being transported to hospital.

Rescuers have transferred at least three injured people to healthcare facilities in the area: two of them are in critical condition. The driver of the vehicle and another injured person were also waiting to be transported to hospital in the hours immediately following the accident.

At the moment no information has been released on the identity of the victims nor on the possible causes of the crash. Various hypotheses remain open, from high speed to an illness on the part of the driver, but the investigations of the local authorities will clarify the dynamics of the incident.

The area of ​​the accident was cordoned off to allow for investigations and the collection of useful elements for the investigation. Authorities have not yet announced whether the driver was subjected to drug or alcohol tests.
