F Foundation recently shone a spotlight on a silent health crisis, bringing life-saving ophthalmological equipment to the heart of theAfricaand at the same time, renewing its commitment to inclusion in Italy.
TO Banguicapital of the Central African Republic, access to essential medical care is often an unattainable luxury. In this context, Fondazione F has taken a significant step, donating highly specialized medical equipment to set up an Ophthalmological Operating Room at theBangui General Hospital.
Donations include a computerized perimetera applanation tonometer and one digital slit lamp. These tools are crucial for the diagnosis and treatment of serious diseases such as glaucoma and other eye diseases.
The project is part of the initiative Puglia-Bangui: a new light for Central Africapromoted in collaboration with the Apostolic Nunciaturethe Community of Sant’Egidio and with the support of Puglia region.
The Dr. Carlo PizzocaroPresident of Fondazione F, commented on the importance of this intervention, underlining the humanitarian vision: «We have chosen to intervene where hope seems distant, but where even a small gesture can change the destiny of an entire community. With the Bangui project we reaffirm the universal value of care and solidarity: restoring sight means how to also restore the future”

The mission, now in its second edition and led by Dr. Vito PrimaveraDirector of the Complex Ophthalmology Operational Unit ofPyrenees Hospital of Altamuraoperated in complex conditions, but with extraordinary results. The team has performed numerous cataract and glaucoma surgeries, restoring sight to dozens of patients, including several children.
In parallel with its global commitment, Fondazione F renews its support for inclusion projects in Italy. Among these, Summer Paideiapromoted by Paideia Foundation Philanthropic Institutionnow in its 24th edition.
This project offers a families with children with disabilities a regenerating and inclusive week of holiday, offering a program full of activities, sharing and mutual support.
The experience involved 47 families for a total of 176 participants. For families, this opportunity was fundamental to lighten the burden of care and strengthen bonds, as the participants testified: “it gives back time, trust and new bonds”.
Fondazione F’s action embodies a model of complete solidarity, which combines high technology and scientific training with human care and commitment to a more equitable future, both at an international and national level.
