Google launches "favorite sources", here's how to add Today.it to your front page

Have you ever searched for news and ended up overwhelmed by sites you don’t know or, worse, unreliable titles? Google has decided to change the way we read current events. What’s new is, simply put, the remote control your news feed has been missing.

Forget the algorithm that chooses for you: now you decide which publications deserve the “place of honor”. Google has introduced the “favorite sources” feature, an update designed to give users control over the news displayed in search results. In fact, you can customize your feed by selecting the newspapers you trust and which will appear in the “Top news” section. Therefore you can now set The Vermilion as your favorite source to follow the most important news, verified by our editorial staff.

How Google’s “Favorite Sources” feature works

When you do a Google search for a current topic, you’ll notice a star icon next to the “Top Stories” section. By clicking on the star, you can manage your preferences. Once a publication has been added to the list, content from that site will appear more frequently among the main results or in a dedicated box called “From your sources”. This system allows you to highlight the voices you trust most, without limiting the variety of information.

How to add The Vermilion to your favorite sources

You have two quick ways to ensure that The Vermilion news always appears at the top of your searches:

  • By clicking on this link add The Vermilion to your favorite sources;
  • Googling a hot topic or famous person; next to the wording “Top news”, click on the star. In the menu that opens, type “The Vermilion” and select it. From that moment, the latest news on the Capital will reach you before anyone else.

There is no limit to the number of newspapers you can follow: you can create your own personalized press review by mixing local blogs and large newspapers. Google will still show you news from other sources to give you a complete overview, but will always prioritize your choices.

Setting The Vermilion as your preferred source means choosing information that doesn’t just chase clicks, but which is committed to verifying every single fact.
