It will not only be advertising the only element of news coming for users of WhatsApp: According to what was announced by Meta, in fact, a series of paid services will soon be available. The company squeezes in particular to those who use the application for work and not only for personal communications, providing business customers and content creators of the tools useful to make themselves known and promote the development and expansion of their business
The notice of what promises to be a real revolution has arrived in recent days, and the Meta Team has specified that the States and the News section will be affected by the news in the months to come. There are a total of three points presented to the users of the instant messaging app, the first of which has decidedly turned up the nose to most, or the introduction of the advertising.
The last to “fall” had been Threads, since both Facebook and Instagram, both social platforms owned by Meta, had long widened the doors to advertisements and sponsorships: these will find a place within the States, similarly to what already happens with the Instagram stories. This means that by scrolling through the updates of the contacts or channels followed by users, posts containing advertising promotions will also be inserted: Meta has guaranteed that, at least for the moment, the advertisements will be limited to this section, thus leaving free chats.
The second element of novelty is specifically dedicated to content creators and companies that rely on the platform to grow their business and interaction with followers and customers: in fact there will be the possibility, upon payment, to increase visibility through the Promotion of the channel in the list of discovery. WhatsApp, therefore, is inspired by what already happens on Telegram, making available to customers an option that could be useful to push social activity or their brand.
Third and latest novelty, also of a clear business mold, is the one that provides for the possibility for creators to include updates available only for a part of their followers who will decide to pay a monthly subscription. In this case, WhatsApp draws clearly inspiration from the street already traced for some time on YouTube, and will allow users to monetize their work by making available to subscribers of exclusive content or for paid preview.
Given that the customer will be directly to choose how much to pay for the subscription, Meta has decided to grant this opportunity free of charge to the creators of content, after which he will deal with about 10% from each subscription.
“I want to be very clear”he kept us to underline the vice -president for the management of the products of Meta Nikila Srinivasan, aware of the discontent that advertising will be able to bring among users, “Your messages
personal, calls and states will continue to be protected by end-to-end encryption. This means that nobody, not even us, can read or listen to them, nor can they be used for advertising purposes “.
