Track and Field

The Ragin’ Cajuns track and field teams competed at the 2019 Sun Belt Conference Indoor Championships Feb. 18-19.

The men’s team finished fourth out of nine teams, while the women’s team finished eighth out of 12 teams.

Louisiana freshman Hannes Burger broke the school record in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 14:42.68. He also finished as the male’s top scorer at the championships with 23 points.

Freshman Reagann Leleux won the conference title in women’s pole vault and senior Shalei Matthews claimed the title in women’s triple-jump.

Louisiana is scheduled to compete in the NCAA Championships March 8-9.

Men’s Tennis

Louisiana’s men’s tennis team is 14-3 on the season following a weekend-sweep.

The team competed at the 53rd annual HEB Tournament of Champions in Corpus Christi, Texas.

The Ragin’ Cajuns defeated DePaul University 4-0, the University of Texas at San Antonio 4-3 and Troy 4-1.

Louisiana is now on a four-game winning streak.

They will travel to play East Tennessee State on Saturday and play a pair of matches against Prairie View A&M on Sunday.

Women’s Tennis

The Ragin’ Cajuns women’s team is 4-3 on the year.

Their most recent match resulted in a 3-4 loss to Sam Houston State.

Two games have been postponed and two others have been canceled so far in the 2019 season.

Louisiana is 4-2 at home.

Their lone road loss was at Northwestern State, 1-4.

The Ragin’ Cajuns will play four matches this week. The team will play two matches against Prairie View A&M on Thursday followed by weekend games at the University of San Francisco on Saturday and Pacific University on Sunday.
