So, I thought it would be an interesting idea this week to watch the State of the Union again and give my take on what he is saying while watching it. So I'm going to have a whole bunch of excerpts of the speech and tell you what I thought during them.
Obama talks about "American values:"
-Whose American values? Because, obviously, my American values are different than President Obama's.
I'll give him this, though, after looking over the figures put up for job creation, it's pretty impressive. Although, you have to figure out if his actions truly accomplished these stats on job creation, but more than likely he did have the biggest impact on creating those jobs and helping GM, Ford and Chrysler becoming the fastest growing car companies in the world.
Ten minutes into it, I was thoroughly impressed.
Master lock in-sourced approximately 100 jobs back to Milwaukee:
-Last time I checked, 100 new jobs on a national scale is so small it's irrelevant to even mention.
Mentions tax break for closing down a factory to move it overseas is a tax deductible business expense:
-With this statement he is trying to show the evils of corporations and the lack of mercy for those who they employ.
-There will always be idiotic tax codes that morons from Washington have snuck in.
The government should lower taxes for companies that stay in the U.S.:
-Seriously? Are you going to act like this is some sort of new idea?
Continues on about in-sourcing jobs by tax cuts:
-Are you seriously figuring this out now?
He says he wants to help provide financing to companies who relocate to communities that lost factories:
-Why do they need financing? This is how the housing bust happened because of forced financing! Give them a long-term tax break if you really want to help them out.
Brags about "Over 1,000 Americans are working today because we stopped a surge in Chinese tires."
-Once again, this figure is so small there should be no point in even mentioning it.
Mentions that it's not right that we let music, movies, etc. be pirated, but in reality, studies have shown that those who download illegal music spend more money on those bands in the long run then by simply buying an album. They purchase T-shirts, memorabilia, concert tickets, posters, etc.
